Revision Update Released On: 06/01/2008
NOTE: If you only need to update your existing copy of ServiceInvoice, then you will only need to download the lastest ServiceInvoice.exe file and copy it over your existing one
which is located in ''C:\Program Files\ServiceInvoice\''. As always, it is a good idea to make a backup copy of your existing ServiceInvoice files prior to downloading and copying this updated version over your existing version.
This update is the most recent ServiceInvoice program available, and contains all of the fixes and enhancments described below on this page.

First Time - Full Installation
If this is your first-time downloading and installing ServiceInvoice, then you will need to download the ''Setup-ServiceInvoice.zip'' file to your computer.
When you open the zip file, be sure to read the installation notes and the license agreement. When you are ready to install Service Invoice, run the ''Setup.exe'' file.
After you run the ''Setup.exe'' file, a new ''ServiceInvoice'' folder will be added to your Program Files directory. It would be a good idea to copy the zip file you downloaded and paste it inside the ''ServiceInvoice'' folder
because when you make backup copies of your ServiceInvoice files, the installation file will be in the backup as well.

Latest Revisions to ServiceInvoice.exe
- 06/01/08 Item Number Character Length:
In the previous release on 05/04/08, a maximum character length of 15 was applied to the item number length.
The maximum character length for an Item Number was put in to keep the user from creating extremly long item numbers that would run across borders drawn on the printed invoices.
This was found to cause issues with Service Invoice not being able to find a valid item number if it was over 15 characters long, (even though the user may have created item numbers longer
than 15 characters in previous versions). As of this release, Service Invoice no longer limits the user to the length of an item number created.
- 6/01/08 Adding Items to the System:
When adding new items to the system from the ''Add/Edit Items'' screen, the new item you just created will be automatically selected in the data-grid on the ''Search Items'' screen when you are done... as if you have performed a search for that item. A new ''Refresh'' button
was also added to the ''Search Items'' screen so that the user can re-populate the data-grid with all the items in the system.
- 06/01/08 Exiting the ''Search Items'' Screen:
In previous versions, when you exited the ''Search Items'' screen, the window unloaded, and when the user called the ''Search Items'' screen again, the list of ''Open Work Orders'' on the ''Search Items'' sceen was refreshed, which is not a bad thing - unless the user had a work order selected in the list, then closed the window, and then re-opened the window, in which case the selection was lost - which
forced the user to have to scroll through the list to re-select the work order he was working with. This release no longer un-loads the window... instead, it simply hides the window when exiting so that when it is called again, the information that the user was working with is still selected.
- 05/04/08 Miscellaneous Enhancements:
Some miscellaneous enhancements to the programs performance were made regarding ''Adding Items'', ''Updating Items'' and ''Removing Items'' from a Work Order.
- 05/04/08 A new ''Edit Vehicle'' Button:
A new button on the main Invoice window (on the ''Vehicle'' tab) was added. This new button called ''Edit Vehicle Info on Work Order Only'' allows you to add ''vehicle''
information to the Work Order without having to create a vehicle, then assign customer ownership, then post the vehicle to the work order. Using this new function is designed to
quickly add vehicle information on work orders where it is not important to track sales by vehicle. Typically this function would be used for all your CASH customers or 1-time only customers.
- 05/04/08 Printing Work Orders/Invoices Layout:
The layout of the printed Work Orders/Invoices was modified to include additional information and also to have a cleaner - more organized layout.
- 04/26/08 Critical Update:
It was discovered after the initial release of Version 4.0 that you could not remove a ''non-system'' item from a work order. It was decided that setting up and selling ''non-system'' items on a work order was
somewhat redundant since you could simply set up a single (re-usable) miscellaneous item in the system and just modify its description, cost and sell price right on the work order when you need to sell it.
This simply means that every ''item number'' you create to sell on a work order will be saved in the system (if it is not already in the system).
- 04/26/08 Printing a group of PM Work Orders:
Printing a group of PM Work orders is now fixed. Previously, only a list of new PM work orders was generated and if you wanted to print all the new PM work orders you just created, you had to display each new work order one at a time, and print them (one by one).
This is now fixed, and you will be prompted if you want to print the work orders (like a batch print).
- 04/26/08 Window Exit/Navigation:
The ''Vehicle Setup'' window and the Search for ''Vehicles Coming Due for Service'' window will now accurately take you back to your previous window when you exit. Before this fix, when you exit one of these windows, you were not always taken back to the previous window that you came from. This has been corrected in four different areas of the program.
- 04/26/08 Sorted Open Work Orders:
On the ''Search Items'' screen, the list of open work orders that you can sell items on was not sorted properly. It is now sorted first by Customer Name, then by Work Order Number. This change will make it much easier to quickly find the work order in the list you want to post (sell) items on.
