Registering Super Rolodex
Registering Super Rolodex removes the 10-record limitation imposed by the Trial version. Registration is a 2-step process (make sure you are connected to the internet).
On the SuperRolodex main window, click File, then click "Register this Software" and follow the 2-step instructions - which consist of Registering your copy, and saving the registration code in SuperRolodex.
After you have successfully registered SuperRolodex, you can create as many records and databases as you wish.
Creating a New Super Rolodex Database
With SuperRolodex, you can create as many rolodex databases as you wish. One reason for doing so
would be to help organize information that is pertinent to different departments in your company.
For example, you may want to have a database that a "Parts Department" uses and a different database
that the "Sales Department" uses, and still a different database that the "Service Department" or "Rental
Department" uses.
To create a new rolodex database, simply click "File" then click "Create a new Database". A new
window will open and prompt you for a database name. Enter something meaningful like
PartsDepartment for example. Click the blue "Save Button" and a new database will be created and
you will be imediately connected to it. You can then begin adding records to the new database.
Customize Your Databases
The data field "names" shown at the left of the data entry text boxes can be changed to suit your needs.
Click "Edit" then click "Edit Field Names for this Database". The data field names then become
editable so you can change them. After you have changed them, click the blue "Update Record"
button to save the changes.
Switching Databases
With SuperRolodex, you can have as many separate rolodex databases as you want, and switching from
one database to another is as easy as simply clicking "File" then click "Open an existing Database".
A new window will open up as shown above and you can choose the database you want to work with
from the file list. After selecting the database you want, click the blue "Save Connection" button.
Create a New Record
Click the "New Record" button and a new window will open as shown above - which will allow you to
enter the information you want. Click the blue "Save" button and the record will be committed and
saved to the database.
Searching Records
Once you have created records in a database with SuperRolodex, you can search for records. To search
for a record, simply click one of the Search buttons that represents the field you want to search in,
or click the "Search All Fields" button to search all fields. Start typing your search criteria in the
yellow search box. As you type, the records containing your search criteria will begin appearing in the
record list.
To view a record from the list, simply click one of the records in the list
and the fields for that record are then populated.
After performing your search, and you find that you have a record containing a lot of text, you may
want to take your search a step further and search “inside” the record. To search inside a record, click
the magnifying glass button as shown above, and your search criteria will be highlighted in red as
shown in the image above.
Private Records
If you have a record that contains sensative or private information, you can create a password that is
required to access the record. When a user clicks on a record in the list to view it, and that record is
"Password Protected", the user will be prompted to enter a password as shown above. If the correct
password is entered, then the record is displayed. If the wrong password is entered, the record will not
be displayed.
Note: If you set a password to access a particular record, that password will have to be entered
EVERY time you attempt to view the record. You can change the password to some other password of
your choosing at anytime, but you must know your password in order to change it. To get rid of the
password requirement for the record, just change the password to "" (blank - no characters).
To set or change a password, click "Edit" then click "Set or change password".
Linking Images
You can link images that reside on your computer (or your network). When an image is linked to a
record, a "red" colored Img button will appear at the far right of the field that supports image linking.
At this time, there is only one field that can be used to store an image link, and that field is the long
single-line field directly above the large multiline field. The good news is that an unlimited number of
image links can be stored in that field - which means that you can link as many images as you want to
each record.
To set up an image link, you must first select an image. To select an image, click "Edit" then click
"Link an Image to the Current Record". A new window will open which will allow you to navigate
through the drive(s) and folders on your computer and and select an image file from the file list. Once
you have selected an image, a "Post Image Link to Record" button will become enabled. Click this
button and the image link will be automatically copied and saved to your record.
Any time you display a record that has a valid image link (which must be in the long single field) a
"red" colored Img button will become visible at the far right of the field. Simply click the Img button
and a new window will open and display the actual image.
This feature is helpful when using Super Rolodex as an electronic catalog. You can link images of an
item or product to the record in Super Rolodex.
